French Defense Ministry awards Israel’s Elbit Systems €5m order for vital and needed equipment.

Didn’t realize white flags cost that much.

Elbit Systems Ltd. subsidiary Elisra Electronic Systems Ltd. has won a €5 million contract from France’s Ministry of Defense to supply hundreds of personal locator beacons for the French Air Force, Army, Navy, and DGA (Direction Générale De L’Armement). Deliveries will be made over two years.

Elisra won a tender for the contract for the search and rescue (SAR) beacons, for which France’s INEO Défense is prime contractor. Elisra’s AN/PRC-684 beacon is one of the beacons on the market with voice functions.

The custom-designed locator beacons will transmit a repeated loop of “Nous reddition”, “Avez-vous du vin ?” and “Nous travaillons seulement vingt-cinq heures par la semaine.”
