Egypt’s military is going after Al-Qaeda.

Taqiyya or reality ?

With the peace lovers, it’s almost impossible to tell.

I “hope” this is real, because it would be true “change”.

The Egyptian army deployed thousands of troops to the Sinai peninsula on Friday, as part of a major operation against Al-Qaeda militants in the area, The Associated Press reported.

Two senior military officials told the news agency that the soldiers, backed by armored vehicles and commandos, have moved into the northern Sinai city of el-Arish and will target Islamist extremists in Rafah, Sheikh Zawiyed and other areas in central Sinai.

Some people are saying this is actually a reverse move – Pure taqiyya, even on their own people – That The Muslim Brotherhood is staging this operation to weed out the non-true believers in their midst.

Call me a typical bitter clinging Eeeeevil Jooooooooooo, but I’m not sure which side of the equation I believe, but there is this possibility I thought of almost instantly on seeing the above article:

Some of the Egyptian military commanders (of course they’re Muslims) may not be on board with the true believers and know their time is up (literally) with the elections. These military commanders may truly not want their nation to go into the crapper and meat grinder that will come when the Muslim Brotherhood takes over and they’re doing something about it.

What if they – and tens of thousands of Egyptian soldiers under their command – are of the same mind and truly trying to save their nation ?

Well, at least they may be trying to toss out the crazies.

If they are, they’re gonna need help.

Tons of it.

Egypt needs the money from the sale of gas very badly. Their balance of payments is tanking. And the top brass needs a source of quick cash to bail to Europe if the elections don’t go well.
