Her name was Florence Green

Rest in peace, Ms. Green.   You and everyone who helped secure our freedom will always be remembered.

End Of A Generation

It’s something many of us rarely think about, yet when you do, it’s really sad and it strikes deep those of us who care about history and the sacrifices others have made for freedom.

LONDON — Florence Green, the world’s last known veteran of World War I, has died at the age of 110, the care home where she lived said Tuesday.

The last of that generation is gone forever. Let’s hope the keepers of history do their lives justice.

Sorry Kenny, I have to disagree here. WW1 was not about freedom. It was two blocks finally clashing.

Especially the Brits enjoy turning WW1 into some kind of crusade for freedom, which has little to no historic facts to back it up. It wasn’t the fight against the “evil Hun”. It was a chain reaction caused by a political murder that eventually to everyone fighting each other, which was pretty much inevitable by 1914.

And it was not the warmongering “evil Hun” pushing for war. In fact, when the situation started to deteriorate, Wilhelm voiced doubts, but it was the Austrian emperor who continued to push for war with Serbia, consequences be damned.

It’s also funny how the side that always claims to have fought for freedom was the side allied with the most backwater monarchy in the civilized world (tsarist Russia.)

Have at it....... But please be respectful and no f'n cussin' neither, ya heah ?...... Also please back up all claims of fact in your comments with links (yes, they will be verified before comment posting approved).
