Israel is beginning privatization of government corporations.

Of course the labor unions are apoplectic and ready to rumble.

F ’em.

The article is from “Globes”, the main business news outlet in Israel.

.

Under the proposal presented to the socioeconomic cabinet on Sunday, the state will gradually issue shares in seven government companies.  The state will retain control of most of the companies, while up to 49% will be issued.

Full privatization of the two ports companies (Ashdod and Haifa), the Environmental Services Company, and three companies operating in Tel Aviv (Halamish, Marine Trust, and Atarim Company For Development Of Tourist Sites In Tel Aviv) is expected.

Public offerings foster transparency and norms of proper administration.  The capital partly injected back into a company will make it possible to improve performance and cut prices, which will be translated into an improvement of the profit line.

.

Israel’s government needs to get all the way out as quickly and smoothly as possible, but at least this is a start.  A good start and one of the big ways a nation hops on the road to true prosperity and remaining sovereign.

Oh, t’were Los Estados Unidos to do the same.  But that’s a tale for another tell to be written soon.  Maybe sooner than later – like after the SHTF and the dust settles, sanity will reign here.

However, regarding the topic at hand, I wonder if there’ll be the ability of non-Israeli small investors (very small – like yours truly who’s typing this) to purchase said stock offerings, knowing the future is so bright, we’ll need to wear sunglasses at night.

Privatization is good, mmmmmkay ?

😀

It looks more like a partial privatization is being floated on these Israeli Corporations.

Some entities do well under privatization, others don’t, depends on varying circumstances like the workforce’s commitment to said private funding, and liquid cash flow ( shekels) etc.

If investing, do your homework scrupulously first, before parting with your hard earned cash.

  2. That’s what we should have done with the USPS long ago and all the other ABC agencies, but abolish over half.

But I think FedEx needs some help from Tom Hanks. I found out computer I ordered has been “bumped” twice from overloaded aircraft in Japan to the states.

One note of caution here, whilst there are undoubtedly spin offs and benefits from Privatization and Keynesian Policies, it has led to many employees of privatized firms to be paid off, or have had their working hours slashed to fit in with the “Rationalization “.

Have at it....... But please be respectful and no f'n cussin' neither, ya heah ?...... Also please back up all claims of fact in your comments with links (yes, they will be verified before comment posting approved).
